More of Sipadan trip

SS took some photos of SWV's room and dive center.

This is the bathroom. They put orchids in our room including bathroom on ehm, don't know the 3rd day or 4th. This is the best bathroom I've had during a dive trip~ It's got everything we need. I don't know if Manado's resort is better as I haven't been there.

The best sundeck~! We can sleep with the wooden doors open like this. Which is really really enjoyable.
Hazel carried us all one by one~!!

Sweet~~girls~~! SS and ST. I think they look alike.

Dive center. Full tanks and empty tanks were put separately but without other indication that whether this is a full or empty tank. I personally prefer the practise of which full tanks' o-ring are covered by a sticker. This will avoid confusion AND accident.

One more thing should mention about the dive operator's practise... The inexperience divemaster always ask the boatman to follow the other boat. When two boats were close to each other, the divemasters on each boat jump into the sea to "check current".. And when both of them came up, each of them was pointing at 2 opposite direction of current..................... Then the 2 divemasters communicate with each other by hand signals. In the end, I still had no idea where the current was heading. I don't think the divemaster was clear either.hehe... So, we're on our own......
Alex... where is your photos.. Alex~~~

Gabriel assisting Doreen for her sunset dive.

And Philip.

Ya! abt the DM check current thing was really joke of the year. Divers can check surface current by jumping into the sea and float motionless at the shallow water. using reef as visual reference and see which direction the current bring u to.But ofcoz there are always smarter and better way of checking current. However, what amuse me was that one of the Dm actually jump into the deep sea to check current without able to use the reef as reference. How to check? By feeling?? Wah!! that is good man. but end up two Dm checking the current at the same time at the same location but give two oposit indication. What a joke! We should give New and Inexperience DM a chance to learn and grow> However, I personally feel that SWV management were irresponsible by using inexperience DM as dive guide without a more senior DM around to supervise.

ya, i think DM checking current thingy will be one of the topic to laugh abt after the trip. Totally agree with Gab. Wats more..when asked which direction was the current after their checking, they told us there were split current!one towards the left, the other the right..honestly, this split current thingy is a sure new thingy to me..so i tot, ok then i hv better follow the DM closely. Ha, later i came to conclude that the DM doesnt know which direction was the current.. the DM on the other boat signaled the left, whereas the DM on ours signaled the right..they dont know who was right cos they were not sure themselves too..and so they came out with "split current"!

looking at that particular site. I can said that there would be any split current. the easy way to hide their lack of knowledge and mistake is to blame the split current. the change in current direction was due to change in tidal movment.

I think gab meant to write "there would NOT be any split current".

aha...this is fun! sorry took so long to join in the conversation. what split current????? if we are talking about the same dive site, in my opinion don't dive there! so choppy (white caps) and windy....siao!

Err for ur information currents could split into either directions will depends on the formation of the wall. U can also met warm surface current going one way and cold currents below you going the other way. Gabby for ur info Jumping Divemaster check currents by watching the planktons, reef fishes direction and directions the softer corals heading. Also there is a thing call WIND and surface current to manipulate the MASTER(SIFU) perception approach.

We SURE KNOW what you were talking about. For your info, the place where the divemaster jumped in can see no bottom, see no reef, see no fish, when there was no visual guidance, how do you check current visually, you tell me. We jumped in the wrong place in the first place, too far from the reef itself. And there was no wall anywhere near us, no warm/cold surface current as you mention. No strong wind at the time. I thank you for your comemnt but please do not make judgement or express your "professionalism" when you are not clear of the situation.

For ur info, I think u did not jump together to check the current too. How would u know that they havent check the latter mentions. I think u lots were push out to the reef by surface current by the time u lots hit the water. I believe too the divemaster was to blame for that scenario. They should based the entry timing more properly. But this is not the point. Pls re-read u lots earlier comments again. My comment is base on ur judgment of the split current thingy and Gab current checking methods. Again i did not make any judgement but facts about currents affects and the points of observing currents. Would you say that again is a judgement? My "professionalism" on currents can be soughted through research and judge on later.

I think u lots a fun bunch and loves diving very much and i do hope u all enjoy it. Im only here to give a more understanding on underwater current workings.
